After seeing the, hmm, transformation that my car has gone through, Susan is understandably protective of her Accord. When I drove it recently, though, I heard some screeching noises coming from the front end, but Sue tried to assure me that she's been hearing that for a while and that everything was fine. Still, just to be safe, I decided to check on the brakes.

Driver's side pads were fine, so I was about to start formulating other theories when I figured it wouldn't hurt to check the passenger's side too. Oh word. The pads were worn down to the point where the metal of the backing pad was showing through. Compare the thickness to a new pad:
